The StrathAyr Removable Turf System consists of 2.4m by 2.4m (8ft by 8ft) galvanised metal modules. The modules incorporate the proven StrathAyr System rootzone, incorporating ReFlex® mesh elements, to maximise grass growth and durability in a shallower, lightweight rootzone.
The turf modules are easily exchanged to overcome excessive wear and the effects of extended time in the shade. For hard surface events the entire field can be removed to an outside nursery.
The modules are moved with forklifts and generally installed on a concrete base. Air and heating channels are incorporated within the module design.
The StrathAyr Removable Turf System is proven under the precise requirements of Davis Cup tennis finals, American Football and soccer.
Reliant Stadium
Reliant Stadium is a retractable roof stadium that is home to both the NFL Houston Texans and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
The StrathAyr Removable Turf System, first installed in 2002, was selected for the flexibility it offered Reliant Stadium.
The entire field is now being moved out around 20 times a season for a variety of events.
The 1,250 modules that comprise the turf surface and perimeter warning track are removed in 8 hours to facilitate non-turf event usage. Their placement back in the stadium is achieved in up to 12 hours.
Reliant Stadium hosts NFL, college and high school football, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, international and local soccer, concerts, monster trucks, Disney on Ice, the Ringling Bros Circus, portable floor basketball, presentation dinners and numerous other events.
Davis Cup Tennis
The StrathAyr Removable Turf System has enabled Australia’s Davis Cup team to play on their preferred surface, grass, in several Davis Cup ties including two finals.
The Court consists of 160 modules and is generally moved in just a few days before the practice sessions to allow time for final court preparation.
The Tennis Australia/StrathAyr Portable Tennis Court is a joint venture between Tennis Australia and StrathAyr. StrathAyr is responsible for the design, construction and maintenance of the court with Tennis Australia providing the specialist expertise to provide a suitable playing surface.
